In 2009, the Expert Panel on Infertility and Adoption reported that out of the almost 10,000 Crown Wards in the province, only about 800 are adopted each year. They also listed the following adoption statistics:
1600 - Approximate number of Ontario children adopted each year through public, private domestic and international adoption
9400 - Approximate number of Crown Wards in Ontario in 2007-2008
2500 - Approximate number of children available for adoption in Ontario through child welfare agencies in any given year
30,000 - Approximate number of children available for adoption in Canada
822 - Number of Ontario Crown Wards adopted in 2007 - 2008
1 in 6 - Number of couples who struggle with infertility
1500 - Number of babies born through in-vitro fertilization in 2006
